Ring of Roses in a Posy

Identical petals

of a rose.

.

Going round and round,

trapped in a posy.

Red- the symbol of love.

Yellow- the symbol of friendship.

White- the symbol of purity.

.

Elegance,

a wafting fragrance

spliced in

to teas,

cakes

and ices.

.

Elegance,

an old lady’s

perfume

is what

the meal

will taste like

if the rose

is given too much

sway.

.

Aphrodite’s

swaying thorns

would be painful

by any other name.

A wreath of roses

worn on Rosalia

takes us past

to the next land.

.

The little prince’s flower

was special

because it was his.

If I taste a rose

on the wind

can I claim

this merry experience

as my own?
