Food Is Not Just Matter, It Matters

I don’t really need

to taste the whole dish

when I am not searching

for sustenance.

Often when I try new things,

it is simply out of

epicureanism.

.

That little cake

made with coconut milk

and circled

with an almond custard sauce,

only just a single bite

could brighten my day.

.

While others around me

have their computers

turned to vibrant games

in those spare hours,

I have multicolored spreads

of international cakes

and bright salads.

.

Sometimes,

I frequent three supermarkets

in one go

to get all the ingredients

required

for my next

foray into joy.

.

Over a mess

of pots and pans

I stew about

what to do next.

The next moment’s happiness

may soon lay

just in my reach,

if I get it right.
