Painted Veil

I meet you
and you remind me
of another.
the veil begins to settle
The more I hear
and see you
in my side glances and whisperings
I see another.
The other stalks
long strides
breaking out of the
long-since cooled
magma of memory.
They taunt and punch,
painting the veil
and causing me
to be unfair
to you.
You have done nothing
to make me see and feel
you as the enemy
and it is toxic.
I need to STOP.
The veil
is climbing,
and strangling
You are yourself (sinless)
I am myself
and the volcanic rock
needs to cool once again,
I must no longer be trapped
in the fetters
of my own memories.
