Painted Veil

I meet you
and you remind me
of another.
the veil begins to settle
The more I hear
and see you
in my side glances and whisperings
I see another.
.
The other stalks
long strides
breaking out of the
long-since cooled
magma of memory.
They taunt and punch,
painting the veil
and causing me
to be unfair
to you.
.
You have done nothing
to make me see and feel
you as the enemy
and it is toxic.
I need to STOP.
.
The veil
is climbing,
indenting,
and strangling
me.
.
You are yourself (sinless)
I am myself
and the volcanic rock
needs to cool once again,
I must no longer be trapped
in the fetters
of my own memories.
