Candy War

Silver husk
zooms over the gold fields,
pelting down red,
pushing down
the cream-flower swords
waving out of chocolate dirt,
this is my
A little cocoa beetle
with wings fluttering
crawls out of the abyss,
he was once sacred
to the peoples
of candy-land
and wishes he could be
It was the silver husk
and pink topped
cherry bombs
that stole his splendor.
The people
once cared only
for communing
with the sugary nature,
until the savory
potato men
After that
it was bang bang,
crash crash,
smash smash.
When the bitter dust
settled back on the land,
the people became fascinated
of what could be
and decided to leave behind
what was.
