Patchwork Family

A patchwork

is a quilt made of

ripped discarded bits,

beloved memories,

and a long thread

which binds all their fates together.

The thread weaves and dives,

surpassing perceived barriers and differences

in an attempt to make

a warm blanket

to drive the out the heartfelt coldness.

For those who feel the cold acutely

and long for heat

warmer than that their own blood can give,

a group of friends huddling together

drawn together by fate

creates that warmth

as a patchwork family.

  1. Your poetry is getting cooler by the day, love it!! Perhaps it might improve further by your openly participating in the Patchwork constructions, rather than just observing from the corner?
