How to Tell This Is My Dream, Not My Reality

How to tell this is a dream

I see the stitches of reality

Peeking out

From behind

The floating aluminum

And monochrome sky

My brain

Is cleaning itself of reality

But strips of it stick through

Like unpeeled wallpaper

Setting of places I know

Characters with the image of people I’ve met

The ideas

Swapping shapes

That have occasionally

Happened upon my waking mind

But when it is irrational

I feel my body

Under the sheets

Even as my head

Floats into

A seeming eternity

Something happens

I dream

And dislike

So rewind

As never done in

What I call

My reality
