The Happy Smile Didn’t Match the Rest

I saw her across from me

She was smiling

She was happy with her life

I saw through that though

That smile was plastered on a thin frame

Worn haggard

That smile

May be real

But at this rate

It wouldn’t last

It scared me

That smile

What was making her

So happy

Yet so worn?

I questioned her about it

And when I found out

I told her too stop

But it was too late

Her eyes

The windows

Showed a soul

I didn’t know

The old soul was eaten

By the teeth and the new mouth

Of the creepy smile
