Butterfly In A Bell Jar

I am under a jar

A bell jar

Caught trapped like a butterfly

.

If I had wings

I would flap them

Through the pure air

Through the jar

.

At least

That’s how the air started

Pure

Untainted

With the wish

For a spiritual life

.

Until

I decided

To stay

With seclusion

For my own good

But it left

Something else

That deciding wish

To be alone

Forever

.

I am under a jar

A bell jar

Caught trapped

Like fruit in jello

.

I have now been so long

In the jar

The breath

Is thick and white

Building up

With air so thick

I am suffocated

.

I am under a jar

A bell jar

Caught trapped like a butterfly

.

In a jello

I am preserved

And people

Look at me

Saying they could never do

As I had done

They would be caught

In the unhappiness

That now chokes

The sky

In the glass
