I Walked Away

Turning around

And around

With my back

To the sun

I walk away

Slowly at first

Then running

Farther and farther

Faster and faster

Away from here

I reach a rusted metal fence

I perch on the corner

Thinking it over

What will happen

When it is found

I strayed from the path

And turned

I walked away

From my partner

On that lonely road

The partner

Who didn’t understand

What I felt

My anger

My hurt

I walked away

I passed

The red dirt

The puddles

The clouds after rain

Without silver lining

Drowning in self pity

Yes, I walked away

From there and am walking

Off the fence

Away from here
