Real Unicorn

It was
A real pony
Her mother gave her
With jewel encrusted feet
And a pearl horn
At life-size
It galloped through the house
In imaginary meadows
With a princess of paper crown
It was like this
Seemingly forever
The fantasy
Like a ended song
And the little girl
Her unicorn
Was not
Made of real
Flesh and blood
Once this happened
It fell from the clouds
With feathers
Of its happiness
Drifting away
On the sad wind
That tomorrow brought
As the girl
Grew up without magic
When she had a daughter
She remembered
Her unicorn
And bought
A life-size one
Pegasus style
From the store
Telling stories
Of its rainbow
In the hope that like
Her statue
Would breath life
