Scrapping Off Popularity

They take
Their chisels
Scraping off
Of his fame
The shiny piece
And displaying it
Like a tiny jewel
On their person
Saying for all to see
That it is theirs
They take the sparkle
The glory
And spread it around
Under the guise
That this
Will make it more popular
That taking sparkles
Will spread glitter
Yet with this backwards belief
The copper
Was scrapped off the penny
And the naked metal
Shines below
He made something wonderful
But with their constant tagging
And mentions
He is quickly fading
Into the silver grey
Background of pages
 And edges
Of forgotten memory
