The Umbrella and the Warm Towel

In the rain

Sopping wet

Sorrow pouring down

Soaking everything

As the gloomy day

Turns to night

In the downpour and bitter cold

Without a path in sight

Wandering aimlessly

In the search of a better chance at living

Cars pass

Flashing the light of their glorious lives

On the black roads

Inside a car

Looking out of the spotted window

A woman recalls a time

When life

Did not shine brilliantly

Stepping out of the car

Into the storm she once weathered

An umbrella

A consoling voice

Enveloping the distress

In a warm towel of comfort

That eventually

This chilly night

Will become daylight

And the rain

Will cease

Giving way

To the sun

Shining fortune upon the land
